Abstract

Purpose: The 2021 census data shows that 46% of Londoners are Black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups and 41% of Londoners are born outside the UK (the rest of England 13%). Barts Health NHS Trust serves 2.5 million people living in East London, however little is known about the service level data of the patients that attend or do not attend the Musculoskeletal (MSK) services at Barts Health. It is reported by Arthritis UK that MSK conditions disproportionately affect people living in deprived areas. The aim of this project is to assess if there are demographic associations in attendance rates, missed appointments, and re-referral rates in relation to age, gender, ethnicity, and deprivation status across Barts Health MSK services.
